코리아타운 한복판에 ‘Out of Ordi’ 첫 오프라인 매장 오픈 예정!

Korean Salt Bread ‘Out of Ordi’ to Open First Brick-and-Mortar in Koreatown LA
Koreatown is about to get a whole lot tastier. Out of Ordi, the beloved local bakery known for its Korean-inspired salt bread (소금빵, sogeumppang), is opening its very first brick-and-mortar location at Oxford Center Plaza — 3524 W 8th St, Los Angeles, CA 90005. After a successful run of online orders and pop-ups, they’re ready to bring their signature breads to the heart of LA.
Out of Ordi: A Love Story Baked into Every Loaf
Out of Ordi is not just another bakery opening its doors in Koreatown — it’s the realization of a dream that started in a tiny home kitchen in Los Angeles. Founded by Gemma and Luis, a husband-and-wife team with backgrounds in design, fashion, and the culinary arts, this bakery is the product of passion, persistence, and a touch of daring.
From Home Kitchen to Koreatown
Gemma and Luis began their journey as newlyweds with a shared dream of building something meaningful together. Financial constraints kept them from opening a traditional storefront, but that didn’t stop them. They transformed their small apartment kitchen into a micro-bakery, with Gemma designing the brand and Luis perfecting the recipes. Their signature item? Korean-style Salt Bread (소금빵).
Inspired by a popular Korean bread with Japanese origins, Out of Ordi brought a unique twist to the buttery, sea-salted favorite. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfectly seasoned — it didn’t take long for their bread to gain a following.
Through social media, word spread, and demand quickly outgrew their little home setup. That’s when they knew it was time to take the leap — signing a lease and officially launching their first-ever brick-and-mortar store in the heart of Koreatown at 3524 W 8th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90005.
More Than Just Bread — It’s a Story
Out of Ordi isn’t just about baking; it’s about reimagining the classics. Gemma and Luis wanted something out of the ordinary — hence the name. Their bread is made with premium French butter and baked to perfection, giving it that irresistible texture and flavor. Each loaf carries their story: the late-night arguments, the dreams too big for their tiny apartment, and the courage to keep going even when it seemed impossible.
Their Best-Sellers:
- Black Sesame
- Corn
- Fresh Cream
- Matcha
- Black (Squid Ink)
- Original
- Pistachio
- Everything Bagel Seasoning
These aren’t just bread — they are reflections of Gemma’s eye for design and Luis’s talent for flavor.
